Teen Tubing Trip Interrupted By Vicious Attacker

Is That You, Jason? Teen Tubing Trip Instantly Turns Into Horror Scene

(StraightNews.org) – Summertime fun often includes days out on the water. Whether people find themselves on a sunny beach, knee-deep fishing in a lake, or tubing on a river, the memories become favorites. However, one adventure for a group of teenagers and twenty-somethings turned fatal when the unthinkable happened.

On Saturday, July 30, a group was floating peacefully down Wisconsin’s Apple River when a dispute broke out with a 52-year-old man from Minnesota, and he allegedly began stabbing group members in the stomach. The suspect, Nicolae Miu, allegedly killed 17-year-old Isaac Schuman from Stillwater, Minnesota, and injured four others. The attack happened in a more remote part of the waterway, where emergency personnel had to wade nearly 300 feet to reach the victims.

All four survivors were initially listed in critical condition, but by Sunday, July 31, authorities said they were stable.

On Monday, August 1, police charged Miu with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and four counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, according to an Associated Press report. One witness account said the attacker was acting “inappropriate and was asked to leave” before he stabbed his victims. Based on video footage of the attack, authorities are holding him for trial in lieu of a $1 million cash bond.

Police haven’t yet publicly identified a motive for the stabbing.
